How to Add Reference App Field in Work Orders App?

The Ref App field is a special attribute that is used to link a custom field with the reference app field. Work Orders Master Layout allows using the values from the fields found in the reference app.

To use this feature, you need to first create a "Ref App" attribute. Then, select the field from “Ref App” which you'd want to relate with the opportunities app.

For instance, link a “Team” that is assigned to Work orders by adding a Ref App Field for Work orders.

Steps to Add "Ref App Field" in Work Orders App

  • Log in and access the Work Orders app from the universal navigation menu bar.
  • Click on the "More" icon and select "Settings" from the app header bar.
Work Orders

  • Select "Master Layout" from the "Customize App" drop-down located at the left navigation panel.
  • You have to add the “Ref App” attribute, before adding “Ref App Field”.
  • Drag and drop the "Ref App" attribute from the palette section.
Master Layout

  • Click on the added Ref App Field, you will be redirected to the inspector tab.
  • Rename the field and scroll down to view the Reference Object Details.
  • Here, the Teams app is selected.
Teams

  • Drag and drop the "Ref App Field" from the palette panel on the right side of the dashboard.
Ref App

  • Click on the Reference App field on the "Inspector" section and rename the reference app field.
  • Scroll down on the inspector column and configure the "Reference Field Details" section.

  • For instance, set "Reference Object" as "Teams" and "Reference Field" as "# of Employees" to link a team email field for a Team in your Work Orders app.
  • Click on the "Save" button to complete.
Select App

  • Now you can view the “Teams” and "# of Employees" on the Work Orders creation page.

Note: “Reference Field” drop-down drives the objects integrated with team creation.
