How to Create Reference App Attributes in Invoices App?

The Invoices App Master Layout allows you to link the Invoices App with other apps. This lets you have the preferred custom fields from the other apps to be made visible in your invoices.

For instance: Consider a Superuser who, while generating invoices, would like to view the commission rate of a particular employee associated with the sales. Now in that case, the reference app attributes can be made use of. Lets have a quick look at the following steps to understand better.

Steps to Create Reference App Attributes

  1. Go to the Invoices App.
  2. Click on “More (...)” icon -> “Settings” -> “Customize App” -> “Master Layout”.

  3. Drag and drop the “Ref App” attribute under the “Palette” tab.

  4. Click on it and rename it as “Employee” under the "Inspector" tab.

  5. Scroll down till you reach the “Reference Object Details” section.
  6. Now, select “Employees” in the “App” drop down present.

  7. Similarly, drag and drop the “Ref App Field” attribute from under the “Palette” tab.

  8. Click on it and rename it as “Commission Rate”. Scroll down till you reach the “Reference Field Details” section.
  9. Now, select “Employees” from the “Reference Object” drop down and “Commission Rate” from the “Reference Field” drop down.
  10. Click on “Save”.

  11. Now, while creating an invoice, you can search and select the employee associated with that invoice. The Commission Rate of that employee will be auto-filled as shown below:
